Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs) are responsible for planning and buying health services on behalf of local people.

Working together with NHS England, this now includes planning the services you get from your GP.

Following discussions with patients, GP practices, hospitals, community services and the three local Councils, CCGs in Berkshire West considered what GP services might look like in the future.

A patient leaflet, Our vision for developing GP Primary Care services in your area was published in August 2015 and invited feedback from local people. It described how GPs, community and social care services would work together to help keep people healthy, and help patients to get the right care, from the right person, at the right time.

The Primary Care Strategy has now been agreed. Pages 36 - 39 of the strategy demonstrate how key engagement themes are reflected in the final strategy document. A link to the strategy can be found below together with a summary report of engagement activities.

We recognise that public engagement is an ongoing process and we intend to undertake further, specific, engagement around key areas of work resulting from the implementation of the primary care strategy. This will be in addition to any formal consultation required with regard to service changes. If you would like to know more, please register with the Berkshire Health Network or contact the Patient and Public Involvement Team on 0118 9822709 (8.30am-4.30pm, Monday-Friday)
