Know Your Risk Roadshow hits Reading

The Know Your Risk Roadshow, delivered by Diabetes UK in partnership with Tesco, will be rolling into Reading from Wednesday 4th & Thursday 5th May (9am – 5pm on day 1, 9am - 4.30pm on day 2) .

Members of the public are invited to go along and find out their risk of Type 2 diabetes, free of charge, by answering some simple questions and having their height, weight and waist measured. There will also be the opportunity to chat to a trained dietitian about how to reduce your risk, pick up a free piece of fruit and have a go in our physical activity area.

In the UK, 11.9 million people are at increased risk of developing Type 2 diabetes and in Reading alone over 8500 people are living with Type 2 diabetes. However, three out of five cases of Type 2 diabetes can be prevented or delayed by eating well and being active.

There’s nothing scary about the Roadshow and no blood tests are involved. Finding out your risk doesn’t take long, but is key to helping to ensure you have the best chance of living a long and healthy life.

If you attend the roadshow you can find out your risk online at www.riskscore.diabetes.org.uk or visit www.diabetes.org.uk for more information.
